As a traffic ticket lawyer, I am frequently approached with questions regarding Georgia’s Super Speeder law. In 2010, the Georgia Legislature enacted this new legislation called Georgia Super Speeder. This law applies to people who receive a traffic ticket for speeding at either: (i) 75 MPH or more on a two lane road or (ii) 85 MPH on any other road, regardless what the speed limit is on that roadway.
The penalty for violating the Georgia Super Speeder law is that you will be forced to pay an additional $200.00 fine on top of the fines and fees that you paid on the original traffic ticket for speeding. If you fail to pay this separate fine, your driver’s license will be suspended. However, if you hire a traffic ticket lawyer, you may be able to avoid this additional penalty associated with your traffic citation.
