Drivers Under 21 Years Old
The State of Georgia imposes serious penalties for drivers who are under the age of 21 that receive traffic citations. If you, or a family member, receive a traffic ticket while under the age of 21, you need to discuss your citation with a traffic ticket lawyer.
The State of Georgia will suspend the driver’s license of all drivers under the age of 21 who receive 4 points in a single traffic ticket. Additionally, the accumulation of points will quickly suspend the license of a driver who is under the age of 21. If under 18, the accumulation of 4 or more points in a 12 month period will suspend their driver’s license. Once 18 years old, the accumulation of 15 points will suspend the driver’s license. Importantly, one 4 point offense will still suspend a driver’s license even until the driver reaches the age of 21. Finally, drivers under 21 are not able to plead “Nolo” in order to avoid points associated with a traffic offense.
A traffic ticket lawyer may be able to receive a reduction in your traffic citation in order to reduce or avoid these serious consequences to driver’s license. Before pleading guilty to a traffic ticket for while under the age of 21, you should consult a traffic ticket lawyer to discuss the specifics of your traffic ticket and develop a strategy to defend against this traffic citation.
